Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal Assisted Therapy

My canine assistant, Yasmina was bred and trained by Canine Companions for Independence as a CCI Facility Dog.

Yasmina is my 3rd Facility Dog from CCI and I have done two full weeks of training with her to become a CCI Graduate Team. I find her to be very attuned to my clients and she is especially helpful for clients who suffer from PTSD and CPTSD.

For most people, the presence of an animal prompts the body to release serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin. These hormones generate a relaxation and stress-reducing response, according to UCLA Health. This hormone release can lower symptoms of depression and sadness, helping support good mental health.
