What is Grief or Bereavement?
Grief is what we experience after a significant loss in our lives. Bereavement is most commonly associated with the loss of a loved one, but feelings of grief can also accompany the loss of a job, home, pet, or other significant thing or possession in our lives. It is important to know that there is no one "right way" to grieve and that all feelings associated with grief and bereavement are valid.
Recovering from Grief
I acknowledge that for most people having someone to share one's feelings with is central to recovering from grief. I believe in extendng empathy to everyone experiencing grief, no matter how long he or she has been dealing with the sadness, anger, guilt and other emotions associated with loss. I can help people to face the challenges of dealing with grief and to adjust to a life without the person, thing or object that he or she has lost.
